Height
How high do you go parasailing?
On our boat, up to 1,200 ft of line, or lower if you would rather. The crew let out as much line as you want, and the price does not change.

Line length is not height
Operators quote a line length, and ours is 1,200 ft. That is the rope between the boat and you. It is not your altitude, because the line trails back at an angle behind the boat rather than standing straight up.
Your height above the water is a little less than the line length, and it changes through the flight with the boat’s speed and the wind. Worth knowing when you compare numbers between operators.
02
What you see
Lahaina down the coast, Lanai across the channel and the West Maui Mountains behind the shore. The resorts along Kaanapali Beach look small from up there.
It is also quieter than people expect. The engine noise falls away as the line goes out, and what is left is wind and the person next to you.
03
You can fly lower. It costs the same.
The crew let out as much line as you want. If 1,200 ft sounds like more than you want, say so on the boat and you fly at the height you are comfortable with, for the same $119.
It is a common request. Plenty of people who ask to go low signal for more line once they have been up a minute.
The opposite holds too. If you want the full line, say so. The crew will not assume a nervous-looking guest wants to be kept low.
04
Does height change the price?
No. A shared flight is $119 per flyer whether you fly the full 1,200 ft or half of it, with the same 8–17 minutes in the air. We run one flight on one line, and you choose how much of it to use.
05
Is higher better?
Higher is a wider view. That is the difference. If the choice is between flying low and not flying at all, fly low.

Height questions
- How high do you go parasailing on Maui?
- Parasail Maui flies on a 1,200 ft line. Your height above the water is a little less than the line length, because the tow line runs back at an angle rather than straight up. From up there you can see Lahaina down the coast, Lanai across the channel and the West Maui Mountains behind you.
- Can you fly lower than the full line?
- Yes. The crew lets out as much line as you want and no more, so if 1,200 ft sounds like a lot you can fly lower and still get the view. Tell the crew on the boat before you go up. It costs the same. Most first-timers who ask for less end up signalling for more once they are up there.
